I completely understand the need to write things in order, as I write magazine articles all day long, and they just don't come together by writing things out of order. I tried that with fiction, though, and got so bored in some bits that I stopped writing. And then I got tired of unfinished projects. So this time, I'm just tossing in notes to hold my place when I get to a bit I want to jump over for awhile, and come back to later. So far, it's working. I'm thinking I may have found the new process that will take this one, finally, to the end, before I get bored or frustrated with it and start something else, instead. Thanks for the blog on your process. It helped me to really look at my own.

Good luck with the projects Diana, I hope the new plan works for you.

@ Vicki - thanks for mentioning the 500 words a day that sounds doable to me too.

I've suffered the same problem with my writing. When I'm stuck, I'm just STUCK and can't seem to see my way out of it.

Maybe I need to try two projects at a time.

I checked out the 1000 words a day and was really excited to see there is also a 500 word a day one. Working a full time job I might not make the 1000 words a day, but I can do the 500.

I totally understand about writing in order. I have written out of order when I was stuck. And yes, it did help me to know where I was going from stuck to what I'd written, but when I was editing did I find POV issues from it.

Oh, and I'm currently reading Rampant and loving it!!!

I normally read this on my friends page but when you mentioned the sidebar, I actually came over to your website. Curiosity, cat, whatnot. Impressive. Progress bars are very frightening things, but they're also insanely fun if you're in the mood to race. I'm sorry it was a rough summer for you -- and I totally understand the "work on two projects at once" deal. That's why I--I mean, my friend. That's why my friend writes fanfic. :)

Here's to a 355,000 usable words (I figure you should get holidays off) in the next year! I can't wait to read 'em!

I totally respect this, and I'm toying with the idea of trying it myself, as my process is much like yours :) Good luck, can't wait to hear how it goes!

BTW love your anti-spam word, lol! I read the first chapters of Rampant online and am waiting anxiously for my copy! Terrific, so far!
