The winner of the PERFECT CHEMISTRY giveaway is: Angie of Angieville. You know the drill.
By the way, guys, I’m a bit behind on my post office visits because with the torn muscle in my back, I can’t lift heavy objects, like, oh, boxes of books. I’ll be enlisting help this weekend.
Thank you so much for all your well wishes yesterday. I really appreciate it. Also, muscle relaxers? Make me so loopy. I get these crazy ideas in my head about making fondue for dinner, which is ridiculous, because fondue takes a lot of scrubbing to clean up, and scrubbing is not something I do well given my current back situation. But the fondue was yummy, anyway. I am an excellent fondue maker, on account of the two years I spent waitressing at The Melting Pot. I also did some Xmas shopping. very little — I’m so behind — but at least I started.
I also got to have a nice chat with my editor about the outline I recently turned in to her for the second killer unicorn book. The second book is currently untitled, but we’re working on that, too. All systems go to finish that, now.
Speaking of killer unicorns, guess what today’s big giveaway is? Wait for it…
An ARC of Rampant!
Win it before you can buy it, folks. And because this is such a monumental giveaway (I have very very few of these things), the comments thread will be open all weekend for entering. That’s right, you have three days to comment here for a chance to win. I’ll draw the winner on Monday.
Have a great weekend!

Not to be greedy, but those of us that have already won something are eligible for this one, right? right?
Take care of yourself.

ps after you posted that tairen soul series i read all three that are out, [ my design professors were none to happy when my work that week was halfassed.. ] and while they were cheesy/amazing/entertaining for my ADD destroyed brain, i had never bought a book from the grocery store and kind of felt like a tool buying one there, and a romance one no less with a crazy super oil painted styled cover. so worth it though, and hey it was cheap!

I hope each day brings a little more progress towards wellness. Look at it this way: at some future point you will be back in the pink, right? Therefore each day is a step in that direction.
Being a huge SSG fan I have signed up for your newsletter, as instructed.
As for the paucity of ARCs of Rampant, is there any way you can persuade your publisher to print more of them so that you can say, like Alice, “Everyone has won, and all shall have prizes”?
Just askin’, as usual.

I think I’ve signed up for the newsletter, should something come through to say we’ve done it successfully?
Now I have to visit the Melting Pot -yum!

SO excited for this one! I would set up a website to review books if I won this one, just to spread the (non-spoilery) love!
I was also going to mention shopping on the internet…Amazon.com is the best (and far superior to the sad Canadian version).
Mmm…fondue. I’m still bitter about the fact that I spent 10 days backpacking around Switzerland, and we couldn’t afford to get fondue.

Wow, you must’ve really been hacking to pull a muscle. Ouch. And I didn’t know you have a fondue thing and worked at The Melting Pot. ERF took me there once and she’s got a real thing for the melty melty stuff too.
Hope you feel better soon, DP! In the meantime, I prescribe hot baths with something lavendery in them. Mmmm.

Nah, purple ranger. I’m sure I’m just a wimp and a crybaby. You should have seen me when they were trying to put an IV in. I was shaking and crying because the first place they tried to stick me didn’t work (I’m very hard to take blood from) so they had to put it in my wrist instead, and as they were taking the blood, it felt like they were pulling my vein out of my arm.

I want to read this book SO badly! The cover is completely awesome and I love any story that has girls doing incredible things, especially if it involves swords. And until your book, unicorns have been pretty wimpy. I love seeing new takes on old fantasy creatures, and unicorns would be a first (we already see this done a lot with vampires and wereanimals).

Oh and fondue is tasty, I lived in Switzerland for a while and they know how to serve cheese there. But you know what’s even better than fondue? Raclette! This basically means that besides bread, you can dip whatever you want into the melted cheese, yummie! You should try it some time…

This is not so much to enter the contest as it is to let you know:
I work at BookPeople in Austin, TX. When Justine Larbalestier visited last month we chatted about Rampant. The result is that I have been bugging my boss (the BP buyer) to open her boxes of summer books from Harper for about a month now. When word spread of your awesome book to the girl who was inventory manager before me, we took it upon ourselves to draw a threatening illustration of our boss being eaten by a unicorn. “This is what will happen if you don’t get us our book.” Now, because it’s been nothing but chaos over the past few months, Megan (boss lady) only just now got to her Harper boxes. Meanwhile, about 483953667 employees (we’re a big store), including dudes and people I rarely get the chance to speak to want to read Rampant. But I have the sole copy. I started reading it last night, and I am so excited – I love Astrid and I love the campiness and Unicorn lore. I’m only about 20 pages in (it was late when I started and I dozed off), but, seriously, well done! But I thought you’d like to know the power of killer unicorn buzz. It’s terrifying!
