Yesterday: I made my chicken soup. It was stunning. I also had a very… interesting trip to the bookstore, but I’m not sure that’s a story for the internet. I really have had it up to here with book snobbery, though. Let’s just leave it at that. I did some title brainstorming, worked on my new “in my spare time” project, played with one of my birthday presents, critiqued some work for a writer friend, and spent quality time with Sailor Boy. All in all, a nice day. (Please, no more sickness. I have too much work I want to do.)

I have an busy weekend planned. I’m off to see this cool Irish folk-rock band called Scythian. And two RWA meetings, not to mention a possible book club get together, more critiquing and possibly, if I’m very lucky, more QT with SB.

What’s everyone else up to?

So earlier this week, when I was watching the comments pile up on the book giveaway post, I saw a certain comment pop up and thought to myself, “Wow, wouldn’t it be funny to write that screen name on the blog?”

Sure enough the winner this week is the commenter called LITTLE LAMB LOST. Email me with your address and choice of book to receive your prize.

Weekend plans: (1) finally taking down my Christmas tree (how embarassing is that? At least it’s artificial or it would be a bunch of twigs by now). (2) finally getting some writing done (too much work lately at the day job).

Happy weekend all! Diana, glad to hear you’re feeling better. ;-)

What am I up to this weekend? I’m up at the Sundance Film Festival right now, burning my eyeballs out seeing four movies a day. Ahhh, bliss.

Sorry you’ve been sick! Hope that chicken soup performed its magic and you’re fully on the mend.

I love chicken soup, but I’ve never made it from scratch. (I have to rely on Progresso or family restaurants.)

    Have a happy weekend.

This weekend? QT with the family. Yup. Might take the kids to see Arthur. I’ve got some blog promotion to do for a debut contest I’m hosting. I think I’ll read a few entries in the gather contest. I’ve got a book I want to read – Atlantis by David Gibbins… AND, I really want to complete another two chapters of my work in progress.

I doubt I’ll get much done…. but it’s nice going into the weekend with a plan! :) Have a fantastic weekend!

To do list for this weekend:

    * take the 13 yo shopping for new clothes
    * chauffeur kids around to various events
    * nice dinner with hubby and friends Saturday night

    I’m glad you’re better, Diana!

    Congrats, Little Lamb Lost!

This weekend, I need to do some writing. A lot of writing, actually. I need to get this stupid novel in line and to where things start happening, goshdarnit.

Apart from that I’ll probably be…um…watching television and doing laundry. And writing begging letters for this summer. Can’t sleep in or I’ll get my schedule all funky.

Well, I’ll be seeing you tomorrow morning at the RWA meeting, but I’m skipping the afternoon because my mom’s coming to town so we can go to the Dancing with the Stars tour on Sun night. We’ll be watching the Duke/Boston College game at ESPN Zone before the show at the Verizon Center. Yeah, I’m geeking out. Your point?

I think Jenn’s postponing Freedom Writers discussion until February book club meeting. So people should just go see it on their own. She was saying that Feb may be The Color Purple, and that we’d meet at an apartment to watch/discuss.

Glad you’re all better! This weekend I’m not working! (or rather dealing with my day job…fingers crossed!) Hopefully I’ll spend my time sitting in front of the fire writing, editing, sending the next chunk off to be critiqued, and relaxing before another week o’ travel begins. And sleeping!

Phyllis, I never take down xmas before my birthday (the 15th) and we get live trees!!

    Happy writing everyone!

Did I tell you about the time I took five boxes of book to the used bookstore? (Sorry, I really needed the money desperately.)

As I was walking out, I heard the girl sneer, “chick lit.”

itz kinda self-centered of u 2 have the book covers u pozed for here on ur blog. makes people think u wrote the books or like lookin @ urself. :)

Interesting idea, anonymous. So, let me get this straight: One kind of work I do is perfectly fine to promote on my own blog, but no other; my picture on the profile section of the blog– where it is clearest and most noticeable– is okay, but anywhere else on the blog is a sign that ‘u like looking at urself’; and I’m somehow attempting to take credit for books clearly written by other people whose names are on the cover (whereas my name is nowhere to be seen)? Mystifying.

Self-centered? By that, do you mean showing and talking about things I’ve done on my own personal blog? What a novel idea.

I’m proud of my covers. I think the photographer is very talented and I had so much fun making them. I hope the woman who posed for the cover of the books I wrote (you can tell which ones they are because they have my name on them) feels the same way. And if any visitor to the blog is inspired to pick up a copy of the books whose covers I posed for, I’m thrilled, because I have read each of them and think they’re great fun as well.

Try again, and consider using real words and a real name.

I think Anonymous is on to something!

Don’t you find it self-centered to name your blog after YOU?

Haven’t you considered calling it ‘Patrick’ and talking more about me and my accomplishments?

Maybe you could post some artist interpretations of how I look since I am to beautiful for photographs.

Also, your profile seems to be all about YOU, too. Don’t you think thast should be more about the growth cycle of potatoes? Honestly, that is what I was expecting to find…

It occurs to me that if Little Lamb Lost, won, then Little Lamb Won, lost. Go ahead and say that ten times fast.

now that the weekend’s almost over, do my plans even count? I got my laundry done and wrote 5 pages this afternoon (yay me!) – all of which I had planned. I did not, however, read the research book or do the tax organization and filing I had planned.

And hey, anonymous, if I were as cute as Diana – enough so to model for book covers at that – I’d be posting pictures of myself all over the damn place. But I think Patrick is onto something – maybe Diana should showcase a poster a week to make sure she doesn’t come off as “too self centered.”

  21. Miri says:

Hmm, I was just going to say that it was kind of self-centered of Anon to take typing shortcuts for his or her own personal convenience (and to not put his or her name on his or her posts), but I think Diana, Patrick, and Jami said it better, so I’ll leave it at that.
