Great advice and analysis! Getting published is a lot of work and takes determination and stamina. Debut *is* everything and I wish I had known that many years ago. This reinvention thing is upstream-swimming, but I am determined.

I still envy your premise…ah!!! Rampant is nearing the top of my stack and I am very excited to read it.

It IS really hard to be patient.

It’s also really hard when you are unpublished, don’t have a completed manuscript, and have been around long enough to know better…

My advice is take this(pre-college age) time to write as many books as you can! The more you write, the more you learn. Just like piano or basketball or any other skill. It’s just with writing, sometimes you get to make money on your practice.

Great post, Diana. I’ve written 2 books so far that aren’t published, and I spend every lunch hour I can seriously working on the 3rd. Nobody ever said it would be easy.
