Well, since Gena is busy auctioning off her brother in law, and I’ve had a crappy week, I’m commandeering her blog theme for the day.

Give me some good news, people!
Good news Friday?

Actually, it’s kind of weird how crappy the week overall has been, considering the multitude of good things that have happened to me this week, and apparently I’m not alone in feeling this way. So perhaps this isn’t as much “Good News Friday” as it is “Count Your Blessings Friday”

Anyway, so I’ll start:

1. I received my second check, called a “delivery and acceptance payment” (I deliver, they accept) for Secret Society Girl. Pah-tay!
2. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire movie is out.
3. Right now, this very moment, the actual COVER cover of my book is sitting in my mailbox at home.

Okay, so what blessings are you counting today?

Sorry you’re having a tough week, sweetie! Chin up!

Let’s see my “blessings” for the week:
    1) I finished the YA proposal that was kicking my butt…and sent that to D last night.
    2) Revised a short story from 28 to 17 pages for True Confessions magazine and sent that in.
    3) My editor doesn’t hate my synopsis for the next Venus book as feared when she asked for the ominous “phone meeting.” I think I’m gonna like having an editor pick out the book problems PRIOR to writing the whole dang book and thus saving myself editing time later. Yay!

Okay, that’s enough for me. Now, if the Three Stooges who seem to be in charge of my day job would just pull their heads out…

Oops, forgot we were doing “blessings” there for a minute. :-)

    Congrats, Anonymous!

I’m nearing the end of a difficult story.

I resolved THREE onerous customer service issues this week.

I saw Harry Potter at midnight, loved it, am not at all tired despite 2 hours of sleep in the midst of the worst snoring ever, and will be seeing it again tonight with my daughter.

I’m one day closer to signing with my dream agent (and thinking positively, obviously)

Hmm, I’ve finally got my head out of my–um–out of the clouds and making progress on my next book.

I got my son’s 2 front teeth out, and he looks the cutest. =)

Good news: 1. I sold a Christmas story to my publisher (since I’d already written it, I would have been rather upset if they hadn’t bought it!). 2. I’m about halfway through another novella, due in mid-December. And 3. I haven’t been rejected (yet, anyway!) by the agent that has my paranormal partial.

I do wish I could go see Harry Potter 4, though. Alas, with the PG-13 rating I can’t take my daughter, and it would be really cruel to go without her. I guess I have to wait for the DVD. Sob.

    1. Finished a particularly difficult wip that was kicking my booty.
    2. Turned in the proposal for Romance #2 to agent.
    3. Hubby and I are building a new house and it’s actually starting to take shape.
    4. It’s FRIDAY!

Wow, everyone else has such great news, I’m going to have to phrase mine creatively to give it a positive spin. Here goes:

    1. No new rejections on the handful of queries, one full ms, and one partial I still have out.

    2. McAfee finally sent me a no-charge customer service phone number after only five vicious emails on my part. They don’t understand my insistence that since I paid for their product, I ought to get to USE it.

    3. I get to meet a great internet friend in person tomorrow.

    Counting my blessings:

    1. I finally received a cheque from Chapters for a booksigning I did a year and a half ago. Yay, I can now make a Visa payment.

    2. An agent’s answer to my partial stated that it had been a tough decision whether to ask for more. Instead, he gave me some concrete suggestions and the offer to re-submit when I’d made changes.

    3. I love my husband.

    4. I love my dog.

    5. My migraine has disappeared. (thank God)

    6. I paid my bills this month and still have a little money left over. Yayyyyy.

    Have a great day,
    Cathy

Hey, Rachel, where did you get that secret MacAfee number???!!! I can only find the one that costs more than phone sex.

and Diana – way cool on the Russian translation. Though I’m so ignorant, my first thought was, “How cool, it’s going to be in Greek…”

My good news for the week:
    1. Sold my second single title to Kensington yesterday.
    2. With said sale get to say a big “nyah nyah” to the GH judges who hated it two years in a row
    3. God my first advance check this week for my first sale earlier this fall
    4. I got an example of what my cover will probably look like for my first ST, and IMHO it’s AWESOME (translation: no naked people and my CP might be willing to take it on the treadmill at her gym)
    5. Said CP has very good very close to sales news that I’m not supposed to blab about yet, so I’ll keep it vague for now.
    6. My other CP Bella Andre’s book TAKE ME came out this week. She and I were roommates in college and when we graduated 11 years ago if you’d told us we’d not only be close friends (again) and critiquing each other’s romances, I would have said you needed medication. So this year I’m thankful to have her amazing friendship and incredibly proud of her success
