I had a mind-blowing week, and it only seems appropriate to cap it off with an out of this world weekend. Thus it is that Sailor Boy and I are even now enjoying the charms of a gorgeous B&B. The rooms are spectacular (I needed a ladder to climb into my bed last night). The food knocked my socks off. And there’s a giant hot tub in my bathroom.
I’d never been to a B&B before, but I’m having a great time at this one — even more so because my whole family is here, and between birthdays, weddings, surviving family emergencies, outrageous weeks, and the like, we’ve all got a lot to celebrate. Good things we’re fans of champagne.
Later we’re visiting my mom’s side of the family in her hometown, which I’m really looking forward to, since I haven’t seen them since March, and there will be another party on Sunday… a bridal shower.
What do you have planned?

I’ve never been to a B&B either, Diana. It sounds lovely!
I’m going to be calling all of my family about my book offers and may go to the beach. And sleep. Definitely! I didn’t sleep much when I had submissions out.

I’ve grown to love the B&B.
I’m in wedding madness, which has replaced 5 year old birthday party madness.
Wedding tonight, where Oliver is a ring bearer. Next week, I am a groomsman at a wedding in Maine.

I’ll be watching GameBoy in a tennis tournament, holding Crafternoon Sunday, and seeing the latest installment of Pirates! on Monday.
And, of course, writing.
(Jessica–I’m heading over to your blog!)

I’m sooo jealous. I have ALWAYS wanted to stay in a B&B and never have.
But I did consume a gazillion pots of black currant tea today, I’m pretty wired/looped up, but hopefully by midnight I’ll be ratcheted down enough to sleep.

I would like to hire someone to mange my household as if it were a B&B. That would be heaven.
Happy relaxing.

Sounds like you’re having a great time Diana. I love B&B’s. I’ve stayed in a couple and their the best.
For me, I’m just going to relax and try to get some writing done. Oh, after I finish judging the last entry.
I’ve been in charge of 140 people move to a new building at work and that has taken all of my time for the past several weeks.
The beach sounds like such a great idea Jessica. I’ll be heading over to your site as well.
Happy Memorial Weekend everyone.

Sounds like a wonderful time, Diana! A B&B plus all your family gathered ’round — couln’t be better!
I’m in the office working today — ugh! — but the good news for me is I’m leaving tomorrow on a family vacation to Disney’s Vero Beach Resort (we go there every year after schhool gets out–very calm, NOT near the theme parks, lol). Lots of stuff for kids and hubby to do, and I get to sit by the pool every day, sip a cool drink, and WRITE on my NEC super-portable laptop!
Which is why I’m in the office today, whittling down the amount of day-job work I’ll have to actually take with me.
Have a great time with family and at your shower, Diana!

I’ve just finished reading your interview with Maureen McGowan for Toronto Romance Writer’s and was intrigued by your voice, so clicked on the link to your blog. Weddings, parties, B& B’s and book launches you lead a busy life. Careful negotiating that step ladder into bed! Enjoy it!

Well, I suppose that in order for some of us to have fabulous weekends, others of us have to stay home and live mundane lives – and since I’m already in the latter category, I might as well volunteer. But it’s nice to know that my selfless sacrifice is paying off so handsomely in Dianaland!
In an hour or so I’ll head over to a local yacht club for the annual Memorial Day ceremony – wreath in the harbor, overflight of F-16s, and all that. Then it’s off to the other side of town for the parade. Then, weather permitting, the beach. Maybe staying home ain’t all that bad, after all….

I’m so jealous of the hot tub
We’re just hanging at home this weekend, caring for the yard, eating cookout, and washing load after load of laundry. And I’m reading a great book by… YOU. Now where wuz I?
Glad you guys are finding a little relaxation in a very busy season!

Thank you, robyn. I’m glad you enjoyed the article.
It’s a busy summer, to be sure. I’m out of town three weekends in a row.
Bill, do you think that’s true? I don’t — besides, jet flyovers sound like quite the adventure to me!
You guys sound like you have exciting events planned yourself — though I’m not sure I understand Gina’s Game Boy extravaganza?
