I own a house!

As of around 10:30 this morning, Sailor Boy and I officially became homeowners. It’s so cozy and pretty — brick and blue, with a lovely office for me, a gorgeous new kitchen with graniite countertops, a garage for Nikita, a finished basement, and a spacious, fenced-in backyard (complete with deck).

It’s going to be a very empty house for a while, since the only thing we have to put in it, other than thousands of books, is a couch, a bed, a desk, a dresser and Rock Band — but I don’t care! Our house! Our house!

Off to drink champagne while sitting on the floor!

Congratulations! I’m sure you can come up with some creative uses for all those books. Romance novel barstools, maybe? :D

That’s a great idea, Trish! We actually do need barstools, as the granite countertop has a little breakfast bar which is thus far sans-stool.

Congrats on the new house! Y’all will have the best time picking out new stuff. I would add a few bookshelves for the thousands of books…

Congrats! I don’t close on my new house until the 27th. I’ll need bar stools for a granite breakfast bar as well AND Rock Band!

w00t and congratulations!! Trust me, houses fill up quickly enough. They just suck things in when you aren’t looking. So, keep an eye out for sudden piles and chairs and stuff like that. Can be dangerous in the dark.

Congratulations!!! I’m so very very happy for you and Sailor Boy! And like others have said, don’t worry… houses find a way of filling themselves on their own :)

Congratulations! I did much the same thing when I moved into my place. The funniest was when all I had in was the kitchen chairs and a box of new wine glasses and I was waiting on the sofa delivery and cable guy to come so I sat around in my completely empty condo in my kitchen chair with a book and a wine glass of Diet Coke and ice.

Yay! Awesome news! You can always go to Ikea and get the “my first house” kit :) Half the furniture I own came from there! And now you don’t have to worry about neighbors when playing Rock Band :)

OMG, that’s awesome! Major congrats, I’m so happy for you guys. I know this is late, but I just got back from SF and with conference brain it takes me a day to get back to the blog.

WhooHoo Diana!!! :D :D :D (I know 3 of them, but this so deserved them)

Congratulations! That first house is a major “grownup” step. Have fun building new memories with Sailor Boy, and remember: Home Depot and Lowe’s are of the devil. Unless you have at least $100 on you, don’t go through the door!
