RE: Aeon Flux

I'm a total snob. I saw it on DVD and decided the reason it failed in the theaters is because it was a smart movie that made you think about what was happening and why, and the implications of it, and too many people in this country can't handle that.

I am so glad that I saw you liked WORKING GIRL. I am an eternal Melanie Griffith fan and loved this movie so much but I have not been able to remember what it was called.

You just spent my money. This is on par with Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail.

:-)
Pennyoz

In defense of my disliking Aeon Flux to the point that I didn't even see it, I grew up on the original Aeon Flux. Don't ask what kind of damage bizarre, non-linear french cinema type cartoons with people dying in every episodes on MTV did to my young life, but I was fascinated.

The movie, which I've had described to me by people who did see it, basically took the names of the characters and a small amount of the design aspect and then called itself "Aeon Flux". That bothered me on a petty level, I'd have been more likely to see it if they'd called it something else.

Ultimately I'm guessing that the combination people who'd never seen the series and weren't interested, and people who had seen the series and weren't interested, lead to the films demise.

I also dissected "Working Girl" to death in film school though, so I tend to be a brat about these things. :)

Good luck in Atlanta!

Sara Black (Gina's daughter) who tends to run on about movies

The bookmarks look terrific. I'm not a bookmark person myself (I dog ear pages... which go along with the ketchup and suntan lotion stains that find their way into every book I read), but I think they'll be great publicity for you.

I've not seen Aeon Flux (the previews did nothing to grab me), but I'm a big Working Girl fan. I come from a family of fiercely independent women who taught me long ago that I'm responsible for making my own happiness in life.

Have fun in Atlanta!

On rewearing the dress - as long as you're not going to be with all the same people at all the same events, go for it.

I need to pack for national too - I get so much clothing anxiety, moreso now because my CP/conference buddy is a total fashionista (Diana, you may run into her at the B/D party - she'll be wearing fabulous shoes). I'm the Old Navy to her Neiman Marcus. And then I remind myself that as long as I'm not wearing silver lame jumpsuit, chances are no one will notice what I'm wearing anyway.

About the board... Have you written/rewritten every book using that method, or is it a more recent approach? I wish I had the mental fortitude to analyze my book that closely. I probably should do it for my current WIP, but I'm afraid it will be like asking questions I don't really want the answers to (like, "This book completely sucks! Throw it out, start from scratch!")

My mom, known for her "black belt" in shopping, passed her fashion sense on to me. For social occasions a basic dress (black or neutral) is easy to wear and to change with accessories. Yet it's the two-piece dress/outfit that solves so many dilemmas by lending itself to mixing and matching. I know this doesn't solve your present quandry, but you'll be prepared for the future. ;o) Also, remember that less is more.

Meanwhile, back to the boards. I appreciate that you addressed how and what to plot. Seeing is believing as well as understanding, so your big board theory will likely work for me.

Travel safe and wear your smile!
