Introducing Rio!

Isn’t she gorgeous? My baby girl! I’m in love.

Sailor Boy and I brought her home yesterday. She’s an eight week old Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever (“Toller”). Longtime (and I SERIOUSLY mean longtime) readers of the blog know that we’ve had our eye on this breed forever.
We’re so excited. And if you think I’m the only one afflicted thusly, you should see Sailor Boy. I think I’ve been usurped in his heart.

Rio is so cute! I live in an apartment, so don’t really feel that it would be fair for me to have a dog yet. I hope to get one when I buy a townhouse one day.

Felicitations on the new addition to the family.
Rio looks like a real sweetie.
I want a dog too. Haven’t had one since I was a kid. Maybe when we move into a house (coming soon) the DH will relent and let me. He did say we could have chickens.

Bilbo started whistling when he saw her picture and think she’s going to grow up to be quite the hottie!
Seriously cute pup, Diana! I can tell she’s going to be such a wonderful companion for you and SB! Enjoy all the puppiness while it lasts… they grow so quickly!

Liza, I know exactly how you feel. We have been living in an apt. for hte last three years, and we specifically picked a “no dogs allowed” place so that we wouldn’t feel tempted, because we don’t think it’s fair, unless you get a low activity toy dog. So the first thing we did when our contract was accepted on the house was look for a dog, because now we have a nice fenced in backyard and a park across the street. We can have our dream dog.
Caesar — I know. it’s hard to get her to stay still for the camera unless she’s sleeping, and phone cameras take so long to snap. But she’s a puddums!
Annie, Bilbo is apparently a LECH! But yes, she’s a doll. And she’ll be fixed too, so he can whistle all he wants. Won’t get him anywhere…

Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand
Just like that river twisting through a dusty land
And when she shines she really shows you all she can
Oh Rio, Rio dance across the Rio Grande

She’s adorable! Take lots of pictures, Diana — it’s amazing how fast they grow out of that round and fluffy puppy look at turn into a “teenage” dog. Kind of like kids, lol.

I’d heard of the breed, but never saw one of the puppies before. OMG, what a cutie. I can understand why you’re both in love with her.

Is it my imagination or are her eyes the same shade of blue as yours?
She’s beautiful! I love puppies and she reminds me of the dog I had as a kid who looked a lot like a fox. I doubt he was a toller, though…he was a mutt, through and through. Loved that dog.
Congratulations!

Adorable! I’m so glad for you…be careful of her eating/piddling on those SSG4 pages, though! =p

She looks just like a fox, Julie! In fact the breed was designed to look like foxes. We are wondering why we didn’t name her Vixen — she is one of those! Adorable little monster!
And yes, her eyes are exactly the same color as mine — for the next few weeks, anyway. WOuld that it would stay that way.
