Sorry I’ve been such a bad blogger of late, guys. I’ve been super busy preparing for the release of RAMPANT (next week!!!!) as well as trying to finish up the second book in the killer unicorn series. Now, while the research for the first book took me all the way to Rome, for the second, I’ve been staying markedly closer to home, though it’s been no less intense.
For example, recently I visited the NUCA headquarters` — that was one eye-opening experience, let me tell you! I’d thought I was an expert on the subject. Turns out I hadn’t even scratched the surface. I think this is going to turn out to be a much bigger problem than anyone realized. I might even have to write more stories on it.
If you’re at all interested in the topic, it would behoove you to check out their website. (No pun intended.)

I agree with Patrick. I also think the website looks phenomenal — very clever and amusing (I especially liked the bits on what to do in the event of a unicorn attack). I *do* think it needs a disclaimer page — not “this is a fictional work, blah blah blah” but more of a a government disclaimer with lots of huge words and legalese that NUCA is funded by so-and-so with grants in this area or research and the like. You could even include a fake publicist, if you can dig one up somewhere.
And I would swear that was filmed in my high school chem II lab except my teacher kept a life-sized Jolly Green Giant statue in there. But I did have a few flashbacks.

Why, lell, I have no idea what you’re talking about. I certainly did not design the NUCA website.
(that’s a great. idea! I’ll have SB whip one up. He’s an expert at all the legalese.)

The video alone is worth clicking over to the page.

Hee, sorry, didn’t mean to infer you had designed it, Diana.
But the designer should give themselves a pat on the back. Such a fine PSA website.
(I have a great universal leader filmstrip if you want to add that to the video at any point, too, gives it a fun filmey, behind-the-scenes look. Forgot to mention that earlier. Though the video as it stands is fantastic, and it’s held up well for being a secret file. usually those have some fun deterioration going on.

WEll, Lell, it’s amazing what folks can do with those pocket-sized HD cameras these days.
Nice to hear from someone in the biz. SB saw your comment and was like, “and you didn’t ask her to help? She’s the one who made the Tap & Gown vid, right?”
